Every year on the Emperor’s birthday, a swarm of princes and kings comes to greet him: an adolescent princess, a grief-stricken queen, a king on his deathbed, and running among them eunuchs, guards, and one boy washing the Emperor’s dirty sheets. After a chain of misunderstandings, the truth is revealed to its fullest power, leaving behind small, bleak figures.
A play that is like a distant fairytale about our lives.
