Ingmar Bergman’s masterpiece follows Johan and Marianne, whose marriage begins to unravel following an affair.
In this new production, the work receives a fresh and surprising interpretation through the encounter between couples for whom marriage is far from a given, and a couple who sees it as the default choice. The production reexamines why we choose to marry, and what remains of us when a relationship falls apart.
