The Yoram Leowenstein Acting Studio Proudly Presents:
Ms. Mueller Must Go
To parents of the fourth graders arrive for a meeting with the hometacher Ms. Mueller, and inform her that they have lost confidence in her educational capabilities. The parents, who think their children are perfect, are sure that only they know what is right in educating their children. In their opinion, the most important goal is to get a high score, get their child to into a prestigious academic high school and not, god forbid, into a professional school. The parents are united with a clear decision – the teacher, Ms. Mueller, must go!
The play touches at the heart of education at schools, where teachers are the problem while children are “perfect” and parents are ambitious, caring for their children to learn only expensive schools. A satirical comedy about parents and children, teachers, solidarity in society and what passes for success these days.
The comedy “Ms. Mueller must go” was first performed in Dresden in 2010 and immediately became a popular hit in Germany, later to be adapted unto a successful film that was released in 2015. The play was written by Lutz Hübner, who is considered to be one of Germany’s most prominent playwrights today and has won numerous awards.
The show is sponsored by the Goethe Institute
