The Yoram Leowenstein Acting Studio Proudly Presents:
A Winter Funeral
Right before Latshek Boobitshek’s mother, Alteh, dies, she challenges her son to make sure there are family members at her funeral. He vows to. The problem is that Alteh’s only relatives are her cousins, who are marrying off their daughter, Velvetsia, tomorrow. Alteh’s funeral would conflict with the wedding. On the other hand, if they never hear of the funeral, they won’t have to go. So, the cousins embark on a worldwide journey – all the way to the Himalia, so that they could attend the long anticipated wedding tomorrow.
Hanoch Levin’s play, from 1978, is one of his most beautiful, profound and yet humorous plays.
