The Yoram Leowenstein Acting Studio Proudly Presents:
Nell Gwynn
By Jessica Swale
Director: Ilana Lelcuk
Translation: Einat Baranowski
A musical comedy
The story of the actress Nell Gwyn, who came to the theater from a lower class and became a pioneer in the field of English theater. With her wondrous talent and wit, Nell Gwyn changed the rules of the theater that until then had only been allowed to employ male actors in female roles. Nell becomes the first female actress in England, captures the heart of the audience and the heart of King Charles II. A greater-than-life and impossible love story.
The play includes a magnificent periodic restoration of amazing costumes, wigs and masks in the spirit of the English renaissance, a huge celebration of color and a salute to the world of the theater.
