Amanda and her two children are struggling to survive the 1930’s Great Depression in the United States.
Tom, who is forced to work as the main breadwinner, finds comfort in the cinema; His older sister Laura, who is too sensitive to world’s cruelty, finds solace in a collection of glass animals; And Amanda, the mother, who tries her best to hold the family together, dreams of her lost youth.
In one evening, all the family’s hopes and wishes are pointed to one person who can save the situation. Will he live up to expectations?
