The Yoram Loewenstein Performing Arts Studio now offers Production Studies
The fascinating world of Production Studies offers classes for students interested in theatre/production management or striving to be assistant directors.
This course of study grants students professional knowledge and the necessary tools enabling them to integrate into various fields (theatre, dance, music) in the performing arts industry.
The syllabus – featuring theoretical and practical studies - develops the skills required for taking on the different roles needed to stage a play or performance.
In their studies, participants will focus on the following subjects:
- Stage management
- Operating sound and light equipment
- Assistant directing
History of theatre studies
During their studies, students will be assigned to work on different productions staged by third year students at the Studio, focusing on:
- Set design
- Light design
- Costume design
- And more…
As part of their studies participants will visit one of the various theatres and associated locations (including set design workshops, costume warehouses, sound studios, rehearsal spaces), they will go behind the scenes of plays in production, and more… Students will also meet production managers, assistant directors, and artistic directors who will discuss the creative and decision making processes.
Towards the end of their studies, and based on their achievements, students will be given the opportunity to manage all aspects of one of the Studio’s plays.
Applications must be 21 or older and interested in the field.
A personal interview with Studio staff members will help determine candidates’ suitability for the program.
